Vegetarians

For the love of veggies

Some people think that vegetarians can't be totally healthy because they don't eat any meat products. Wrong! Exactly how healthy a vegetarian is depends on the food choices they make. Both vegetarians and non-vegetarians can be healthy OR not so healthy. Ultimately, the choice is up to you.

How can I have a healthy vegetarian diet?

If you're a vegetarian and include eggs, milk, cheese, and yogurt in your diet make sure you fill up on these healthy choices too.

  • Whole grain cereals, crackers and breads.
  • Vegetables and fruits
  • Beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh, nuts and seeds.

If you're a vegan and don't eat any animal products at all, you need to make sure that you get enough protein in your diet. It's a good idea to talk to your doctor about setting up a meeting with a registered dietitian. They'll help you plan what foods to eat so you'll have energy to go.
